Investment must be maintained throughout the visa validity period. Spouses, children, and dependent parents of the main applicant can also obtain a visa without additional investment.
The visa initially lasts for two years and can be extended for an additional three years, contingent upon the maintenance of the investment. The visa application process typically takes 90–120 days from submission. The investment must be completed within three months of entry into Italy. For the Investor Visa Program, investors must acquire or lease residential property in Italy post-approval. Under the Elective Residence Program, applicants must exhibit stable income and own residential real estate following approval. Permanent residency becomes feasible after five years, subject to the investor's relocation to Italy.
