In March 2020, Egypt introduced a new citizenship law, initially established in 2019, which allows foreign investors to obtain citizenship by making a financial contribution. To manage this program and attract foreign direct investment, the government has set up a dedicated citizenship by investment unit.
To be eligible for citizenship, candidates are required to select one of the subsequent investment alternatives:
Prospective applicants must maintain good health and possess a clean police record. All investments are required to be in US dollars and transferred from overseas. Donations and bank deposits should be directed to a designated account of the Citizenship by Investment Unit at the Central Bank of Egypt treasury.
The processing period typically ranges from nine to twelve months from the date of application submission to approval.
