Application Process
  • Make the Investment

    The first step is to complete the investment (whether real estate or company shares). Alternatively, applicants can purchase interest-free government bonds for a special purpose

  • Submit the Residency Application

    The application for residency must be submitted to the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (OCMA) along with all required documents (proof of investment, criminal record, health insurance, etc.). Applicants must also make a one-time payment of EUR 10,000 to the state budget. Background checks will be conducted to ensure applicants meet all legal and financial requirements, including no criminal record.

  • Issuance of Temporary Residency Permit

    Once approved, the investor and their family members receive a temporary residence permit valid for five years. Applicants must visit Latvia in person within three months to collect their ID cards. The residence permit is subject to annual renewal of the ID card, but no minimum stay is required to maintain the permit.

  • Residency Renewal

    The temporary residence permit can be renewed at the end of the five-year period, provided the investment is maintained and all other conditions are met. To qualify for permanent residency, the applicant must pass a basic Latvian language test (Level A2) and have knowledge of Latvia’s history and national anthem.

  • Pathway to Permanent Residency and Citizenship

    After five years of temporary residency, individuals can apply for permanent residency in Latvia. Citizenship is possible after 10 years of residency, provided the individual meets the naturalization requirements, including passing a Latvian language test.
